Pilot Rusty Crane manages to safely ground plane after landing gear failed

This is the moment a pilot was obliged to ground a plane on its belly after the landing gear failed.

Incredibly despite the tough landing of the Cessna 2-10 on the tarmac, pilot Rusty Crane walked away from the emergency unscathed.

Footage shows the light aircraft making a smooth descent, however after that there is a tough landing accompanied by a cloud of dust rising in to the air.

Speaking to Yahoo News Mr Crane said: ‘It’s known to be an excellent reliable plane, a harmless plane.

‘I can’t disagree. I’m still here.’

The pilot was flying solo, and as the aircraft lowers, you can easily make out the faulty landing gear hanging from the underside of the plane.

The video was posted to the Wagga Wagga LAC-NSW Police Force’s Facebook page, along with the pressure writing: ‘Emergency solutions called to Wagga Wagga Airport today.

‘Quality skills displayed by the pilot resulted in no one being injured.’

And commenters were quick to praise the skilful handling of the situation by Mr Crane.

Matt Vallender writes: ‘Congratulations to the pilot. Don’t believe this could have actually gone any type of smoother thinking about the mechanical circumstances. Quite skilled.’

And JoJo Brew adds: ‘Terrific landing on pilots behalf. great on him. Delighted no injuries to anyone.’

Bec Langfield says: ‘Exactly what a Quite skillful operation, and Kel Wise echoes this sentiment, including that it was a ‘textbook operation.’
